California law AB 32 passed in 2006 calls for a mandatory reduction in the amount of greenhouse gasses emitted by Californians.  The law calls for a cap on greenhouse gas emissions by 2010.  To comply with California’s progressive regulatory law ,Pacific Gas and Electric, one of the largest utility companies in the United States has agreed to purchase 800 Megawatts of Electricity from Solar Power companies, Opti Solar and Sun Power.  Opti Solar and Sun Power are currently building the largest solar power farms in the world in California. These new solar farms will double the United States total solar energy production.  This massive increase in the amount of solar panels produced will lead to a decrease in the cost of solar panels.  This will make solar panels more affordable to the average consumer and ultimately lead to the increase in demand for solar power. This maverick California regulation is forcing big business and our utilities to act to create more green energy.  Shouldn’t we follow their example instead of ridiculing them for being LIBERAL?  Shouldn’t every state and the federal government implement strategies that force big business and entrepreneurs to produce more green energy?  The only way to force corporations built for profit to change is to pass and enforce laws that create tough regulatory standards that levy harsh punitive penalties on companies that refuse to take action.
